French designer Lorina Balteau began making jewelry in the early 2000’s, adding to her achievements as a writer of poems and published journalist. She is known for bringing new life to the centuries-old technique of tatting—a network of finely hand-worked knots—introducing different types of pearls and jewels into her designs. She also enjoys working with old watches, buttons, badges, and chains stumbled upon here and there, adding new elements to them so that they feel like an entirely different piece.
