This dress is more beautiful than expected

I ordered this for my 5th anniversary party. It is much prettier than the dress I was married in! The photographs do not do this dress justice. One dry clean resolved all the issues caused by the compact shipping package.

Adorable...

Wow. I ordered this as sort of a "last-ditch" effort to find something to wear for my elopement, and I think Hitherto hit the mark perfectly with this dress (I tried their Fondant Tea Dress in BHLDN's gowns collection, and it was a huge miss, for me).

The dress has a slight shine to it, the material is gorgeous silk-linen, and it is a silvery, pale gray. I am tall with broad shoulders, and it is very fitted through the bust/top - no extra/loose material. The skirt has either a reinforced or "starched" hemline (from that trim detail down), so it stands away from your frame like an A-line skirt should.

All the neat details and beading make this such a special dress, especially for the money, and I'll be wearing it with the Hey Lady "Elopement" pumps, which cost more than the dress, but they are worth every penny, too. My only complaint would be the packaging, as others have noted - these dresses are expensive enough and of such fine material that they should not arrive folded and badly creased.

Gorgeous but generous fit

I loved this dress in the blogger previews and couldn't wait to try it on as a potential wedding dress. It is truly beautiful but there are a few things to note:

First, the color is slightly lavender/grey in real life, even though the product shot looks a little bit golden/yellow to me. The true color is lovely!

Second, I think the fit is slightly large. I took my true size 0 and there is something slightly off about the neckline. Rather than going straight up the shoulders, as shown on the model, the dress widens from the bust to the neckline. This isn't as flattering on the shoulders and there seems to be some extra fabric under the boatneck as a result, so moving the straps closer together doesn't work (see photos). I think if you have a larger chest the problem may be minimized, but even with my most padded bra I had fabric to spare.

Lastly, shipping boxes are the same size as those used by the sister company Anthropologie, so due to the compact size there were some wrinkles. The dress can't be ironed so a steamer would be handy.

Overall I adore the details of this dress - the sequins are subtle, the collar is cute, and the bow is adorable - but I'm worried about the fit up top. If you are petite like me, this may not work out of the box, but because of all the details, I'm not sure if it can be tailored.
