BHLDN Weddings: Oak & Kunche
A LOVE STORY
Oak and KunChe first met at art school in southern California. He asked her to collaborate on a comic book with him; she considered it. Seven years later at a playground in Berlin, when KunChe felt it was the right moment, he extended this simple request: "Will you share the cane with me when we get old?" She said yes!
HER DRESS
Oak happens to be the very first BHLDN bride. She had tried on many dresses prior to her experience with us, but KunChe kept insisting that they were missing a "fresh element." Then, in the wee hours of Valentine’s Day last year, our opening day online, she decided that our Cascading Goddess Gown was the one for her. "It feels natural yet sophisticated, and the design is so unique. It feels as if it was custom made just for me."
THE DAY
Seated beside a potato bush bursting with purple flowers at the Los Angeles Arboretum, the couple decided that the gardens would make the perfect backdrop to their ceremony—"amongst flowers and plants from around the world," says Oak. Personal touches included custom planter-centerpieces constructed by friends (which now reside in the couple’s backyard, ensuring "no pretty flowers went to waste"), and invitations designed by Oak and letterpress printed by KunChe.
