Odd fit but cute dress. Love it if you find the right size!

To add my 2 cents:

I'm 5'7 1/2, 32-30-37, usually a 2-4 in tops and a solid 6 in skirts/pants. According to the size chart, my hips would have been fine in a 4 but the size listed for the waist was 3 inches too small, so I ordered both a 4 & a 6 as some reviews said to size up anyway.

I agree with most reviewers that the lining of the dress is much tighter than the dress and that this might make it difficult on some body types. It fits like a sheath, especially through the hips. There is definitely no forgiveness beyond the hip measurement on the chart. My 37" hips fit perfectly into a 4 (listed at 37") and there was absolutely no room left over in that area.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my 30" waist fit well in the 4, which is listed at 27", with some space left over - probably 2 inches. I pulled it tight with the belt and it looks fine. There is even more space left over in the top, of course (I'm 32 and it's listed as 35 in the bust). Thanks to the drapey fabric, the chest area is not a problem, but the shoulders are another story. I have relatively broad shoulders (much wider than my hips despite my small chest) , and I may need to get the back altered because if I lean back at all there is a giant gap at the top of the zipper.

Other things: As far as length goes, I'm almost 5'8 and the dress is 2.5 inches above my knee. I would be comfortable wearing this dress both in a wedding and to fancy work engagements; I don't find it too short at all. The dress is lighter than the picture, as noted by others, but is still definitely what I would call a royal purple or darker. I was afraid it would be pretty light after reading many of the reviews, but it seems pretty much the exact color of the purple Crayola crayon. :) The fabric is good quality although wrinkles like crazy (as you might expect from the makeup), and the dress seems sturdy enough although the tight lining and loose dress is a bit of a weird combination.

So in short: I would buy two of these dresses - an exact measurement for your hips and then one other size up/down depending on whether your hips are your widest part. Since there's a prepaid return label, you have nothing to lose. :)

Beautiful fabric, not good for taller girls

Looking at the model, you would think that this dress would be stunning on someone who is tall. I'm 6' and a true size 6. I ordered this in an 8 based on reviews. I found that even the lining was gigantic on me, and the seem on the waist hit me WAY too high (under my ribs instead of anywhere near my natural waist). Perhaps I could have returned and gotten a size 6 and done some major alterations by adding fabric to the straps and taking in the lining, but decided to find anther purple dress. If you are tall or have tall bridesmaids, I'd look for something else.

Otherwise the fabric and design is gorgeous. If they happen to re-design I'd order in a heartbeat. Shorter girls, order now!

Beautiful dress!

Purchased it as a bridesmaid dress and love it! Was slightly concerned about sizing as I'm 36-29-42 which is between sizes 6 for bust, 8 for waist and 12 for hips and I didn't want to spend extra money paying for lots of alterations. I read previous comments that the lining fit quite tight but the actual dress fit looser, so I ordered a size 8 which fits measurements 37-29-39. Just as the comment mentioned, the dress lining around my hips was quite tight but the actual outer dress was an absolutely perfect fit! The only minor alteration I will have to do is just take apart the back seam of the lining from my hips down and sew in an extra inch of fabric to make it comfortably for me which is a quick 10 minute fix (which nobody but me will ever see!). I am just so happy about the fit with the outer dress - no costly alterations. I'm 5'7" and the hem came to just above my knees, just like the photo. The color is definetely a softer purple than in the photo, but is still very beautiful! I felt like a movie star wearing it - its extremely figure-flattering - well worth the $200 and I will absolutely wear it again and again!! :)

Lovely dress - difficultly figuring my size!

This dress is gorgeous, although the sizing did not suit my measurements. I have had to re-order a smaller size and am hoping it fits better! Spoke to a *very* helpful woman when I rang the first time - customer service does make an effort!

A bit concerned about shipping - there was a system crash and I have had a bit of a nightmare getting my dress. International deliveries are not very straight forward!

Regardless - looking forward to the new dress arriving and crossing fingers the fit is better!
