Fortune-Telling Book for Brides
Just What I Expected; Charming.
I walked into the Houston store and found this lovely little book, so I decided to flip through. The pages are of high quality stock, and the book pages are rimmed in gold, giving the book a very lush feel. The inside has some lovely little reads, tips, and suggestions, but don't bet the house: this is definitely not a fortune telling book. Some of the reads you can definitely tell the writers phoned in, but overall, most of the book has many cheerful little inscriptions & old wives' tales, which I found charming. I certainly learned a little bit too about some legends that surround weddings. Some of my favorite sections were on flower and gemstone meanings, and the book even has a gift guide for each year's wedding anniversary in the back. Also, even though it is meant to be lighthearted, my favorite section is the "Wedding Blessings from Around the World" chapter. I am including some of these in my wedding vows. I teared up when I read the Apache wedding blessing, and that in itself was the reason I spent the money to buy it. Well worth it to have as a little entertainment, and as a keepsake for me to look through later.
