Like many other reviewers, this was not a dress I would have picked out for myself, but the BHLDN bridal consultant popped it in my dressing room toward the end of my appointment. After trying on 7 or 8 dresses I felt okay about, this dress felt different on. I felt like myself rather than someone dressing up as a bride. I should mention I'm pretty petite, straight and narrow so it looked slightly different on me than on a taller, curvier person, but the dress actually cut these very long smooth lines that showed off my curves in an effortless way. I ordered the size 0, it came the same week I ordered it. I wore this dress for my 6/4/16 wedding day at an old social club in Brooklyn and loved every minute of wearing it. I wore the satin sash it comes with and a string of pearls for the ceremony, and changed into the sparkly Pearly Back Drape necklace, Ballroom Chandelier earrings, and a more ornate crystal and pearl sash for the reception. Mid-rise spanx (no higher because the back comes down so low) almost to the knee and a stick on Nu Bra were crucial to feeling secure and comfortable. I used a french bustle with ribbons to tie up the dress and the lining. Received tons of compliments and felt like a 40's movie star. It had a real wow factor that surpassed my expectations leading up to the day by a long shot.

I had a very specific style of dress in mind (sheath, simple, backless), and this fit the bill. I ordered it based on measurements (limited by my 41" hips/tush), and the size 10 was initially a pretty good fit, although as other reviews said, it's made for those who are well-endowed on top. I'm not, so I knew I'd have to have the chest and straps taken in. The alterations ended up being about 50% of the dress price (!!!) because I lost a bit of weight and had to have the whole thing sized down. That said, $1200 after alterations is still a very reasonable price for a dress, and it was totally worth it, because this one is an absolute stunner. I think the model photos don't totally do it justice; it has a very sexy-but-class Old Hollywood look. Anyway, I'm babbling, but this dress was a fantastic decision. A few comments...
1) The material is almost 100% polyester, but it doesn't look or feel cheap.
2) If you're small on top like me, you'll need to have it taken in. I also highly recommend sticking the straps to your shoulders with dress tape.
3) I also had my seamstress tack where the V-neck meets in the middle so I didn't flash my stick-on chicken cutlets to our guests the entire night. That alteration shows in some pictures, but I'm glad I did it.
4) Seamless shapers (high-waisted to mid-thigh) were necessary.
5) I was able to use the bathroom all by myself, twice! The train is very short and manageable, I just lifted the dress up to my chest with one hand and pulled down the shapers with the other.

The Livia gown was exactly what I was looking for in a wedding dress. I wanted something simple, yet elegant and special. I felt beautiful and I received lots of compliments on my wedding day.
The size 2 was the best fit, but I did have to get the shoulder straps taken in and the bottom hemmed a little bit. My seamstress added a little bit of a bustle in the back as well. Overall, my alterations were pretty minimal.
I wore sticky bra cups, so that no straps would show in the back. I also wore high waisted spanx, that were thigh length. I highly recommend trying this dress!

This dress was nothing like the dresses I picked out during my appointment at the BLHDN Georgetown location. My stylist (I wish I could remember her name!) was so attentive to my complaints and compliments about the dresses I tried on, she knew what I wanted more than I did. She pulled this dress out of the back... and it was the one. I never even noticed it on the site, or in the store. It blended in among its lace and embellished peers that initially attracted me- but the difference is this dress is absolutely stunning ON your body. It is a heavy material, but at the same time light and doesn't weigh you down. The subtle details on the back: the back drape, the slight train--- just stunning. The color is more ivory than white and almost has a warm glow to the fabric. The only complaint I have is that it will take a lot of alterations to make it fit my body perfectly. I am 5'4" and pear shaped. I am about 3 sizes bigger in my hips/booty than I am on top, so it will take a lot of altering to lift the dress and take in the front. There is a lot of fabric in the bust, so if you are not busty like me, this may be a pricey alteration to fit. I am also adding a bustle so I don't trip over this while dancing at my reception. But overall, this dress is at an insane price point for it's quality so I'm OK spending a little more on alterations to make it fit perfectly. Shapewear for this dress is also tricky. I am going to sew in cups in the front as a bra, and I purchased Spanx Thinstincts High-Waisted Mid-Thigh Short. They don't hit high enough to interfere with the low cut back. I have some concerns about the waist band rolling, so I would have preferred shapewear with strapes- but I don't think anything exists that would not hang out with this dress' sexy details. I think this dress looks best on girls with an hourglass or pear like me- so flattering! My booty looks amazing in this. Amazing. Don't pass this one by without trying it on! I can't wait to wear this on my wedding day. For reference, I usually wear a 6-8 in dresses, and purchased this in a 10 so it hangs and grazes my hips without being tight. Thanks BHLDN Georgetown!
