Most beautiful dress I've owned
This dress is absolutely stunning! I'd been admiring it online and it was even more beautiful in person. The beading is more intricate than it appears online and adds subtle texture, and the silk lining is soft and substantial. I received so many compliments on my wedding day - and more important, I felt comfortable and pretty.
I'm 5'9" and 140lbs, and a size 4 fit perfectly. As someone with a large chest and wide hips, it was a relief to find a dress that wasn't revealing and didn't require foundation garments. The length was perfect with 2 1/2" heels.

Gorgeous, fits perfectly!
This dress is incredibly beautiful and romantic! It's also well-made, comfortable, and light enough for hot weather, yet lined twice underneath the exterior skirt, so nothing shows through. It has removable straps underneath the blouson top-- perfect for dancing and even weight fluctuations. The size 4, my normal size, fit perfectly! For reference, my measurements are 35.5/27/38 and I'm 5'7". The skirt was a little long with high heels on, but only by an inch-- easily taken up at the waist or cut off the bottom.
My stylist at the Georgetown store, who was amazing, paired the Sian with the Cirque veil and pearl-petal halo on top. I felt incredibly gorgeous!

Not for short ladies
Vintage, organic, romantic, and very feminine. This is a beautiful dress, but it has some issues.
The dress is slightly snug in the midsection. I am very petite- usually a size 0, or 00 if it's available - and it felt a little tight in the band. It causes the ribbon to fold. Another commenter mentioned this issue. The tailors I spoke to said that to get rid of the issue you have to bring up the waistband to hit more at your natural waist, instead of your midsection.
The biggest problem is that the dress cannot be shortened satisfactorily for a short person like me (5'1"). First, there is a blank space in the middle of the skirt (shaped like a zig zag/chevron). It looks great on the model, but for a short person it's not necessary. On the front of the skirt, the flowers form two upside down peaks (like icicles). The peaks hit at a very awkward place on a short person (around the knees, as apposed to thighs, like on the model). You can tell the skirt is designed specifically with long gams in mind, not short ones.
I was very worried about losing the beautiful detail at the bottom (and top), but after speaking to BHLDN as well as Catherine Deane, I was told that an "experienced tailor" could do it just right. I bought it, aware that the work would be difficult, but thinking it'd be possible since I'm in NYC and there are some great tailors here.
Well, no miracles can be worked. I took the dress to three places and they all told me alterations would be a minimum of $450, but the ideas they had were not a satisfactory solution, at least for me.
The detail on the skirt is difficult to work with. It's not necessarily lace- the little flowers and beads are sewn straight onto the lace, unlike appliques, or types of beadwork and lace. This means that there's no natural place to cut the detail and resew it. It means cutting the detail itself.
Most people could get away with just cutting from the top or bottom of the skirt. It would mean losing a few inches here and there. But I think that's fine for someone who doesn't mind losing some of it (5'5" at least, in my opinion). Just beware, tailors will charge for both cutting up the top and bottom of the skirt and it's not cheap.
Since I am short, I thought maybe we could cut out that negative space in the middle of the skirt, and just bring everything up so that there would be about 3-4 inches of blank space instead of around 12 inches. Two tailors said they could, but there would be a seam that looks like the one on the side of the dress. This seam has about a 1/4" white overlap, which wouldn't look good because the lace is very sheer.
The last tailor freaked out on me and said she couldn't determine what could be done without cutting up the dress first. No thanks!
That was the last straw. I had to return the dress.
This is a beautiful gown and I want to rate it high, but given the issues with tailoring, I have to rate it lower. It is just not easy to work with and the alterations are a hassle. I really wouldn't recommend this dress to anyone shorter than 5'5", unless you don't mind losing the detail.

Gorgeous floral details
This dress is way prettier in person. It feels sophisticated and elegant and slightly bohemian at the same time. The flower details are gorgeous. Some reviews said to get a size bigger, but it was in fact too big on me and I went to my regular size. I am smaller on top with hips (and a behind) and the dress the was very flattering. I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day!
