The line between intricate/vintage and clean/modern.
I was never a rabid wannabe bride, however I will admit that I had my eye on this dress even before I was engaged. Once I began seriously looking for dresses, it took me a while to settle on this one, but I have no regrets. The fabric is beautiful, and the design definitely treads a happy line between intricate/vintage and clean/modern.
I really liked the subtle-not-showy low back. I tried it bra free, but stick-ons worked a little better. It is definitely a little too low for a strapless bra.
I found the sizing very accurate. I measured up according to the chart, and decided on size 4 despite the bust being a few centimetres larger than required. I did have to get the bodice taken in a little, but everything else fit well. Only criticism is that the lace didn't have much stretch and felt slightly scratchy â?? I was hoping for something a little softer. So for me the sleeves felt a little less 'fitted' than anticipated, yet my movement still felt slightly restricted, so I don't feel like sizing down would have been a good idea.
With all that said, for me the design and quality vastly outweigh my criticisms (which were barely noticeable on the day of course). I hope this assists in your decision making process. :)

Falls short of my expectations
I loved this dress online, but was rather disappointed when it came. First of all, the lace was frayed in some parts and there were two buttons missing on the back. The color definitely has that vintage feel and was a little darker than I expected, but still nice. The lace sleeves were pretty, but they kind of wrinkled up in places which was not appealing. My biggest qualm with the dress was the fabric of the skirt...it was really just a thin mesh material over a slip. It wasn't sheer, but I just think the dress would be much nicer with a more luxurious skirt fabric. I will be returning this dress.

Very pretty dress, but a little dismayed
I love the color and style of the dress, but it arrived to me with a few areas of fraying in the lace (one fray is in the arm, pretty noticeable with the dress on) that I am really hoping can be fixed by my seamstress. I am a size 0 and ordered a 2, it will need to be taken in at the bodice and up in the length, but the lace fits tightly which confuses me about how the dress is made. Why would the bodice underneath be baggy but the overlaying lace be tight? I love the style of the dress and want to wear it on my wedding day so I will make this work, but I am not incredibly likely to recommend BHLDN to other future brides.

I'm 5'4, 38C cup, wearing a size 14. Beautiful dress. Really comfortable and well made, but returned it because the long sleeves just don't look that flattering on me. Definitely would need a petticoat under the skirt, hangs flat and limp without it. Skirt is not pleated.
