Not exactly as pictured but good dress
I was in the mission to find a good reception dress for my wedding and this was the third dress for me to try. I was a bit hesitant at first ordering this because the bust area of this dress in the photo looks a bit odd; like it's sitting too high. I'm about 5'3" and typically wear a size 0-2 so went with the 0 (at the time I was ordering the 2 was sold out) after looking thru the BHLDN size chart. I would have to say BHLDN has a pretty spot on size chart.
I would have to say the photo is a bit deceptive in that the underskirt is not a pale pink as shown in the photo but more of beige/nude. Also, where the pleats fold along the waistline are not as full looking as in the photos. You can definitely see the nude colored under skirt and wrinkles that form along this area do show. It's nothing that's really distracting but if you have a tummy or the under skirt doesn't fit you 100% correctly a wrinkle or two may show thru. Basically, the tulle in this area is not as thick or full looking as in the photo.
Being fairly short, the dress hit me about mid knee but with heels it wasn't too bad as my legs looked more elongated. The boning and cups in the bust part of the dress definitely helped as I'm on the bustier side (32DD) and no bra/undergarment was needed. It would work for girls who are smaller chested too I would imagine. I did take it to the tailor though to shorten the torso a bit as it was slightly too long making the bust part "puff out".
Another thing is that while the illusion back is really pretty the buttons are really a pain to get on and off as there is no elasticity to the button loop holes (you definitely need someone to help you).
Overall, no huge complaints and I'll be keeping the dress. For the price though, I expected a little more quality as the dress looks/feels slightly cheapish but it's still cute and not bad for a fun night of dancing.
