Not too small...
I found this dress to fit perfectly for my size and believe me I've tried on 4 different sizes in this dress.
It is lovely and sweet and beautiful. My only complaint would be that the zipper is quite difficult to zip at a point. This was the case on all the dresses I tried on. The point where this dress seems like it could be too tight for people is just below the breasts where it is a bit tighter. Otherwise, it seems true to size to me.

I think this dress fits true to size. I ordered a size up since all of the previous reviews said it ran small, but now it is too big. I love how delicate and feminine this dress is. I see that my true size will ship later this month. Definitely exchanging!

Beautiful Dress- it's exactly like the picture
I purchased this dress in a larger size since the reviews indicated that the dress ran super small. I was hoping they were wrong, but unfortunately they really were not. The dress does run small, however if you are aware of that and can go up at least a size or two, you should be fine. I am normally a street size 12 and I ordered the 14 and it *just* fit. I am pretty proportionate (except my arms, so the sleeves were a little tight. However, I expected that because I deal with that in all my clothes so I knew before ordering this dress that I would need the sleeves to be altered to give me a little more room.)
The silk chiffon in the front of the dress has a split panel that you really can't see in the picture of the model. I think it's pretty though and I believe it's there to give the dress more movement.
It's really a beautiful dress and what I really love about it is how unique this dress is. In a sea of strapless mermaid dresses, this dress stands out. It will go beautifully with my soft, romantic theme wedding.
A few things I will mention to help anyone considering this dress:
a. the color says it's ivory, but to me, it really was white. That is fine with me, but if you are looking for a truly ivory dress, this might not be the correct color for you. b. the zipper was a little hard to zip. Even without the dress on, it was really hard to unzip. We were afraid we might break the zipper when the dress was on. It's a hidden zipper so that's probably why, but I need to have it looked at by the woman doing the alterations and see if anything can be done to help the zipper.
Really love the dress!

Very, very small
I have a hourglass shape and the dress fits fine on the bottom (which makes sense given the cut and fabric) but is ridiculously small on top. I ordered a 12 (my typical size) and thought that I may need to alter a little/lose a little weight but this fits more like a 6/8 (something that should be mentioned in the description). I certainly cannot zip it up at all, and will need to make severe alterations to the back. I would recommend sizing up, at least 2 sizes. Bust cups are indeed small, but workable. Detailing is beautiful and it is lovely, very romantic and unique, which is one of two reasons that I am keeping it.
The other was my unfortunate experience with duties (I live in Canada) and the canned response I received from BHLDN. I was charged nearly $400 in duties/brokerage, which is obscene. I recognize that duties are the responsibility of the customer, but surely BHLDN knows that this 30% in additional charges to ship to Canada occurs to Canadian customers and does not fairly warn them. I have never been charged such a large amount (percentage and cost), and when I asked them about this they said that I can just return it and that duties are the responsibility of the customer. I think it should be responsibility to inform Canadian customers of this possible expense. I certainly wouldn't have bought the dress if I had known this, and surely others wouldn't either.
I'm not even going to bother with returns, as I don't think the 14 would make a huge difference, and I will try working on altering this one.
Overall, a pretty disappointing experience.
