This is a beautiful dress, but not for me. I had a fantastic experience buying it at the store in Chicago. Unfortunately, I tried on a sample 4, and I am a 0 (5'4 112). The draping looked completely different at the store, and I was reassured that I would be able to alter the top to fit my very small (32 A) chest once I received the dress. I took the dress to three seamstresses, and none could alter it to prevent gaps or bagging. Before doing any work I contacted bhldn, and they wouldn't return my dress. Really? No exceptions to the return policy, ever. Even when the consultant assures you the alterations will work. So now I either have no dress or an ill-fitting dress for my wedding in three weeks. It started out so well. Make sure your dress fits perfectly. Don't plan on any major alterations. These dresses are not designed for it, and bhldn isn't equipped with the customer service to help either.

I was looking for a Hollywood glamour inspired wedding dress and when I saw this dress I thought it was perfect and the price also seemed to good to be true. I will make a slight adjustment to the bust area but the size 10 dress fit me perfectly.
I am very tall (5'11) and the length of the dress on me was just right - no alterations to the length required. If it assists any tall ladies out there that also is looking at this dress my measurements are Bust 38 inches, Waist 33 inches, and Hips 41 inches.
I couldn't be happier with the cut, quality and style of this dress.

Stunning and sleek
I saw this dress online and had a feeling it would be the one for me, and it sure was. It is very simple but classic and the heavier fabric was perfect for a winter wedding. It has a sort of Old Hollywood look to it and its simplicity lends well to some fun accessorizing.
It doesn't fit perfectly off the rack, but I think the price point of the dress more than makes up for the alterations required. I recommend sizing up if you are between sizes so that it will drape nicely over the hips and thighs, and then taking it in around waist, chest, etc. as needed. I also had bust cups added to fill out the top so I didn't have to wrangle with any sort of backless bra. For reference, I am 5'8/130 lbs and I ordered a size 4.

Fits 34A with expert seamstress
Bottom Line: If you are small-chested but love this dress, don't despair! Take it to a seamstress for his/her opinion. Also, try the bustle, it looks gorgeous!
As a 34-28-38 (135lbs) I required a size 6 to fit my hips, which was too large for my 34A bust. I was determined that this was the dress, so I tracked down a seamstress who has been doing wedding alterations for 15 years.
To make the front a better fit, the seamstress did a few things, she 1) sewed some padding (onto my backless&strapless bra), and 2) took in the sides (as well as some length at the top of the shoulders, requiring her to cut out a little more for the arm holes).
The consequence of making the front tighter--it makes the back feel a little loose! Not to worry, she then took elastic and sewed it (invisible from the outside of the dress) into the curves along several spots at the back to keep the same beautiful draped look. I could walk and move comfortably, the shoulders felt firmly in place and did not slip.
For the grand finale, she made a simple bustle and the look of the fabric gathered above the ground compliments the plunging back. It is simply lovely.
Small personal detail: I wasn't sure what to do with the long satin sash that came with the dress. Tying a bow (for me) is messy. (The satin sash is not really shown in the pictures provided here, but it is LONG.) The seamstress sewed just enough of the sash onto the dress so I could have the look of satin around the waist (sans extra ties). She also sewed the flowers (similar to "blanched hydrangea sash") directly onto it for a fun detail.
A dream to accessorize! Enjoy.
