Romantic and Classic It was important for me to find a dress that fit my personality, and this was it...classic, unique, and comfortable. I stopped looking as soon as I saw this dress. To me the color is a warm and creamy ivory (rather than tan) that I feel would compliment many skin-tones. The fabric felt rich and luscious and the dress is clearly well made, from the box it came in, the many layers that add dimension and style, to the actual, working buttons. A big plus for me was the pockets! The neckline is modest, yet romantic...my seamstress felt it was "sexier than what is typically popular these days" and was reminiscent of Victorian lines. The interior corset added to a secure and flattering fit, but was comfortable to move and dance in. The bow is larger but in no way is it overwhelming. The size 6 fit me perfectly #I'm usually a size 2 at Anthropologie#, though it needed significant hemming, which was a bit costly due to the number of layers. Thankful for those layers, as I was married in November...didn't feel the chill at all. I felt elegant and beautiful in this gown, and received many, many compliments and felt this dress fit the mood of the wedding completely. So very happy I found it. January 2, 2013
Simple Elegance I was the first person to buy this dress when the BHLDN store opened up in Houston and I have not stopped receiving compliments on it! From the fabric, to the delicate buttons, to the details in the dress's shape, every friend, seamstress and store clerk has oogled over this dress wondering where I could have gotten it. It has the simple feel of true elegance. It's not overstated but it has all the necessary parts of an excellent dress. It fit perfectly and I felt gorgeous in it. The dress is off white, which was perfect since I wanted a vintage mountain chateau feel at my wedding and it gave my straight frame a nice shape. August 9, 2012
Stunning Vintage Style Less than a week ago I got married in the sweeping taffeta ball gown, and it was breathtaking! I don't think I could have found a better dress for the elegant-antique sense of style we were seeking for our wedding day. One guest asked if I was wearing a vintage dress! I paired it with a antique Art Nouveau necklace and a parasol, and added a vintage brooch to the center of the bow. Perfect! In particular, I adored the color and feel of the silk material. I have very pale skin and red hair, and the dark cream color was stunning with my complexion. The lightweight silk caught the sunlight, and moved and draped beautifully. The details of this dress are wonderful. The real buttons down the back--real buttons!--are gorgeous, and the bow in front provides the perfect extra flair. And I was thrilled to find a great dress that isn't strapless! In the end, this dress withstood an entire day of outdoor photographs and ceremony in the wilds of Yellowstone. Despite walking along unpaved paths through sand, gravel, sagebrush, and wildflowers, the dress held up astonishingly well, and looked crisp and beautiful all the way through the reception. Are there any downsides? Well, due to my short figure the size 2 dress needed about a ten inch hem and shortened straps, but that would have been the case with any dress. If you are planning to get married outdoors in a hot climate, be advised that the many layers of the skirt will trap in heat (sort of like ski pants). For our mountain wedding location, this counted as an advantage. All in all a great choice, and I hope to post one of our photographs soon! August 3, 2012
Definitely THE one! This is a beautiful gown! The color may turn some away but the overall structure and construction of the dress is amazing. It has a built in bra and lots of layers to give it that true ball gown effect. The fabric feels lovely and has a nice sheen. About the bow...not too big...not too small...just right! August 2, 2012
