Gorgeous Dress !
I had been obsessed with the Ortensia gown for months but could not resigned myself at buying a gown online. The BHLDN Gods were probably on my side because I reside in Montreal, Canada and in January I was on a 6h layover in Chicago. The city was than completely paralyzed by the extreme weather conditions and my flight was cancelled for 3 days. I immediately called BHLDN and requested a last minute appointment. I NEEDED TO SEE THAT DRESS! I must say that the staff at the Chicago boutique were very accommodating.
5 gowns later , Tallulah being the 2nd that I tried on, I was completely in love and overwhelmed with the beauty and feel of this dress. It is completely stunning and the stones gives it a more younger look compare to the Ortensia. The fit is flattering , like all dress will need to be shorten. There was no way in my mind that I would find something similar or this enchanting. It was perfect!
The dress is perfect yes! However I must advise International shoppers to beware! The informations concerning the duties and taxes that were given to me at the store were COMPLETELY WRONG, and got a few weeks later a very frustration phonecall from the customs asking for a $1200 payment to cover duties due to the fact that part of the dress is assembled in China. This was non-negotiable and I tries to contact the store but never received a callback.
Ladies, I love love love this dress, and cannot wait to wear it in my September wedding but this incident ended up ruining what seemed at that point like a flawless experience.

Found my dress
Since I live in NYC where there are so many fabulous bridal boutiques, I never thought I'd purchase my wedding dress online. But after trying on about 20 gowns in boutiques and not finding anything I loved, it turned out this dress was exactly what I was looking for: a simple silhouette with a dramatic back, a 1920s vibe without being too costume-y, and a flattering natural waist. The beading is stunning and firmly attached to the netting. It is very well made and feels comfortable and luxurious on the body. There are three layers of silk: a slip, a silk-satin skirt, and the tulle netting on top. I tried both the 4 and 2, and chose the 2. My waist is 26" and my bust is 32". My seamstress says she will not have to do anything to the dress except hem the bottom. The boning in the bust provides plenty of support for dancing, but I also asked my seamstress to add some cups to give me a touch of cleavage, as I looked totally flat chested otherwise. A few things to know. There is very little give to the cap sleeves because of the tulle and beading. So it does pull a bit when you raise your arms over your head. And the color is much closer to a pure diamond white than to an ivory. Thanks BHLDN and Catherine Deane!
