Mothers of the Bride & Groom FAQs

{Q} I'm petite (under 5'4”)! Any tips for choosing a dress?

{A} Consider your proportions, giving extra thought to the length to ensure it hits you in a flattering place. The good thing is, our dresses are designed with alterations in mind! Look for styles with a top-applied hemline; this allows for beautiful details like a scalloped hem to be preserved, even when altered for length. In some cases, proportion adjustments can be made at the waist seam.

{Q} My daughter chose mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses. How do I coordinate?

{A} Metallics are a neutral in our book! They lend themselves well to bridal parties of all color palettes; floral prints with a rich mix of color are another great option.

{Q} It’s going to be chilly on the wedding day. Do you have any tips for wraps?

{A} One word: sleeves! Three-quarter sleeves are ultra-flattering, providing coverage without sacrificing style. Short or cap-sleeve dresses offers a bit of coverage while keeping you cool in the warmer months. We also love a good cover up!

{Q} What’s the most universally flattering silhouette?

{A} A-line silhouettes offer a universally flattering fit. They nip in the slimmest part of the natural waist and float gently away from the hips. Try large-scale lace and embellishment for a streamlined effect. We also love stretch lining for comfort!

{Q} How do I find shoes that are comfortable, but fancy enough for my dress?

{A} Go for a pair of fancy flats! As long as they have a bit of festive embellishment (think crystals, bows, or blooms), no one will notice the lack of heel height.
