I was so excited to receive this dress and thought it was exactly what I wanted for my wedding day--carefree, unfussy, and elegant, perfect for my upcoming early fall beachfront nuptials. However, I'm not sure it''s particularly flattering on me. I am hourglassy with broad shoulders and generous hips. I take a size 10 dress and found the large to be snug through the bodice and arms, and quite short-waisted--more empire than a-line. A belt might help, but I'm not sure it will solve my fit woes. Also, I was aware of the half-slip, but it just barely covers my rear in the back, so if I decide to keep this, I'll probably need to explore longer slip options. It is as pictured, though, so for the tall and slender, I think it is probably perfect.

The dress is beautiful, but is not fully lined. The lining on the dress I received only covers to above the knee (not as pictured). This was disappointing to me, as the dress is a sheer fabric and you can see an awkward line across the thighs where the lining ends.

5'6", 140 lbs (solid size 6), yogi with tiny waist and broad shoulders/hips (1950s shape), Size B bra.
Yes, this dress is LONG (will have to be shortened), but not large if you have shoulders to carry it. It is not overtly sexy or curve hugging, but this is clear from the pictures. The pictures show a long slip that is not included, but I'm a fan of the open lacework on the bottom. The material is a cotton/silk mix, so it has a slight sheen.

They could definitely take the dress up at the waist to avoid messing with the beautiful detailing at the bottom. A tailor could take the sleeves up too from where the inlay starts on the arm, creating more of a 3/4 sleeve or even a cap sleeve if it was too much coverage for the brides taste.
